Lancashire to La Herpinière

September 13, 2015

Well, our first post and here we are in Basse Normandie and the proud new owners of a wonderful home!  There are several buildings on our land including barns and also our beautiful Gite located in the landscaped grounds of our larger property called 'La Herpinière'.  Originally a working farm, 'La Herpinière' has been here for over two hundred years.

The extensive grounds are a haven for trees, plants, flowers and wildlife.  It is peaceful and enjoyable in equal measure and for somewhere to unwind and relax, it really is tranquility found.

Debbie and I have moved from Lancashire to enjoy the beauty  and culture of rural Normandy - an area we have travelled to and loved for many years.  Besides the serenity of the surroundings, we are close  to towns and villages, which are ideal for soaking up and enjoying the local culture.

Our location is such that we are near to many famous and historic sites, all easily accessible for days out.

We both wanted to keep busy, which running the Gite inevitably does and to manage our property of almost six acres.  Debbie also makes jam from the abundance of fruit that grows here.  We also have our time more than filled with keeping the grass mowed, the moles in check and our fish and chickens fed!  We hope that our website provides enough information to assist you make those holiday decisions and to come and enjoy this magnificent place.

Our blog will provide you with an insight into our life in France and of our day to day lives at 'La Herpinière' and in our commune of Cherence Le Roussel.  We'll sign off for the time being.  Now, for those mole hills....!
